Itinerary
After meeting at the Samoa Tourism Authority Fale at 9 am, walk to the bus station past the bustling fish market. The local bus will take us for a short ride up the hill behind Apia where we will walk through a lush residential area to “Mailelani” (from Heaven). This small family business was created by Kitiona and Sylvie Salanoa in 2000. It started as a small soap factory with a commitment to environmental care, economic development and welfare of the Samoan people, by offering good work opportunities and fair salaries.
At the soap factory, get a first hand look at a family business in action. Learn how the soap is made and how Samoan people make beautiful natural products without the need for modern technology. Kitiona and Sylvie will show you the flowers and plants in their own garden used to give that tropical scent.
See the wealth of products the family is producing including soap, body lotion, body mist, body oil and shampoo bars with fragrance for both men and women.
Return to Apia by local bus. On arrival into Apia walk back to the Samoa Tourism Authority information Fale from the local bus station and end the tour around 11. 30 am (please allow for some Samoan time flexibility).
